About UsMission Statement "To provide leadership in the best practice management of weeds and in so doing protect agricultural, community and environmental sustainability throughout the south east region of NSW." Our Objectives The objectives of the Committee are:-
Membership Membership shall be open to all Local Government Councils, Government Departments and Statutory Authorities within the Region who have a direct involvement in noxious plant control and any landholder organisation which the Committee may decide, from time to time, by a two-thirds vote decision. Who we are The Committee has members from the following groups. NSW Department of Primary Industries Local Councils and Weed Control Authorities NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service Livestock Health and Pest Authorities NSW Department of Lands Rail Corp Catchment Management Authorities NSW State Forest ACT Parks and Conservation Service Where we are The Southern Tablelands and South Coast Noxious Plants Committee is the leading organisation for weeds in the NSW south east region, covering from Bega Valley Shire in the south to Wollongong City in the north and west to the Snowy Mountains and including most of the Southern Tablelands and Slopes districts. Local Control Authorities (LCAs) are responsible for controlling noxious weeds and administering the Noxious Weeds Act 1993 in their areas. In most areas of the region the Local Control Authority is the council. In some areas such as the northern part of the south coast and the southern slopes area Weeds County Councils or Weeds Authorities have been established to control noxious weeds across a number of council areas. In these circumstances the Illawarra District Noxious Weeds Authority and Southern Slopes County Council are the Local Control Authorities for their respective council areas. |
